Equipped with a 624MHz processor and a host of market-leading features such as 3.5G HSDPA connectivity, GPS and seamless Google integration*, the ASUS P552w PDA phone is a perfect fit for the rising tide of young, tech-savvy professionals who appreciate a good-looking mobile companion that packs a wealth of fun features and yet is no slouch when it comes to work.

About the launch of this latest Glide Phone from ASUS, Mr. Edward Wang - Business Head, Mobile Communication Business, ASUS (India) said, "The ASUS P552w is equipped with a 624 MHz processor which makes it amongst the fastest PDA phones currently available in the Indian market. The unique ASUS Glide interface takes the touch screen experience to new heights. The phone has features like EziMusic and Eziphoto which make it a complete entertainment package. The ASUS P552w will create a revolution in the phone market in India with its power packed features and greatly enhanced user experience."

Glide to a New Mobile Experience

Underpinning the ASUS P552w´s revolutionary touch-responsive user interface is its cutting-edge Gester technology that enables users to perform a variety of navigational actions – such as selecting, zooming, scrolling and flipping – easily through simple flicks of their fingers. Incorporated into Glide are also applications that enable users to access a wide range of functions such as looking up the latest news, checking the weather forecast, viewing photo slideshows and listening to music within a few finger taps. These applications, dubbed Multi-Home, Anytime Launcher, EziPhoto, and EziMusic, give the expression "the world at your fingertips" a whole new meaning.

Unprecedented Processing Power, Speed and Connectivity

The ASUS P552w boasts of one of the most powerful CPUs (624MHz) in the market today. Apart from posting exceptional Vsbenchmark scores, the ASUS P552w's real-world results are equally tangible – applications and games run exceedingly faster and video frame rates are remarkably smoother. The ASUS P552w also features 3.5G HSDPA (3.6Mbps) connectivity for the fastest Internet browsing, file sharing and TV program-streaming experience possible. Furthermore, it offers Bluetooth, WLAN 802.11b/g, GPS, USB and other connectivity standards to enable easy data transfers to and fro from other devices.

Deep Google Integration

The ASUS P552w features Google Maps* which not only facilitates navigation, but is capable of furnishing users with information on points of interest. The ASUS P552w's navigation capabilities are further bolstered by a feature known as ASUS SMS Location Link. With this exclusive feature, users at two different locations can locate each other easily by sending each other SMS messages. Clicking on the URLs which are automatically embedded in the sent messages will link the phones up to Google Maps, which will then provide the users with clear directions on how to get to each other's positions. The ASUS P552w also features a convenient Google Search Bar on the Today screen that makes it easier to perform online queries.

EziPhoto, EziMusic and Other Applications

The ASUS P552w comes preinstalled with applications that allow users to get an easy handle on entertainment. The most exciting of these are EziPhoto and EziMusic. EziPhoto enables users to flip through their photo collection with their fingertips, akin to how they would with a real album. It also has a Calendar option which organizes and displays the thumbnails of photos users have taken according to the dates in which they were snapped, allowing them to relive those moments in chronological order at a single glance. EziMusic offers an interactive interface – complete with exciting animations – for users to play and manage their music, performing each task with colorful aplomb. The ASUS P552w also houses applications that enable easy access to web content like RSS newsfeeds, YouTube movies and photos on Flickr, ensuring that users have a full complement of entertainment options to choose from while out of the house or office.

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Nokia Remix, London, United Kingdom and Singapore - Nokia turned up the volume on its music offering today by unveiling the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, a mobile device for music that brings innovative new features to the mass market.  Delivering on Nokia's vision to provide the best total music experience possible, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be among the first devices to support Comes With Music, Nokia's groundbreaking service which offers one year of unlimited access to the entire Nokia Music Store catalogue.

When it comes to music phones, people all over the world want a device that is a great music experience - with more memory, loud and powerful speakers, easy synchronization - and must still work well as a mobile phone with direct access to important contacts and content. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers on all counts and allows consumers to access and share content.

"With the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, we set out to connect people through the one thing we all feel a universal connection to - music," said Jo Harlow, Vice President, Nokia. "The way in which people enjoy music is different around the world. With that in mind, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic gives people the freedom to experience music they love in the way they prefer."

Media Bar, Contacts Bar - putting people first
Taking advantage of touch screen technology, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic introduces the 'Media Bar', a handy drop down menu that provides direct access to music and entertainment, including favourite tracks, videos and photos. The Media Bar also offers a direct link to the web and to online sharing. Because the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports Flash content, individuals can surf the entire web, not just pieces of it.  In addition, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials, including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks and support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack. Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer the industry's most powerful sound.

Ensuring a seamless music experience, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also provides easy access to browse and purchase tracks from the Nokia Music Store, where applicable, while the newly updated Nokia Music PC software allows for easy drag-and-drop transfer of songs and management of any music collection.

The innovative 'Contacts Bar' lets consumers highlight four favorite contacts on their home-screen and, through a single touch, track a digital history of recent text messages, emails, phone logs, photos and blog updates.

"As Nokia's first mass-market device with a touch screen, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic turns a 'user interface' into a 'human interface' by truly putting people first.  For example, we've introduced the Nokia Contacts Bar, which is like a digital RSS feed on your life," said Harlow. "By adding the benefits of touch screen technology to S60, the world's leading smartphone interface, Nokia is taking the familiar and giving it a human touch. We have used touch technology where it really adds value such as the Contacts Bar, Media Bar and clever shortcuts from the homescreen to menu items such as calendar, profiles and clock. "

For the best screen resolution available on a mobile phone, the 3.2" widescreen display brings photos, video clips and web content to life in vibrant color and true clarity.  With a 16 by 9 aspect ratio and 30 frames-per-second playback and recording, the device is ideal for VGA quality video recording and playback.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and, with a single touch, images or videos can be shared via a favorite online community, such as Share on Ovi, Flickr, or Facebook.  Music playlist song titles can also be shared through Bluetooth, MMS or online sharing.

Music for the masses
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports 60 languages worldwide, which covers nearly 90 percent of the world's population. As people around the world use their phones in different ways, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers a variety of input methods including a virtual alphanumeric keypad, a virtual computer-style QWERTY keyboard, a pen stylus -- and for true music enthusiasts, a plectrum -- are all available.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be available worldwide beginning in the fourth quarter of 2008 for an estimated retail price of 279 EUR before taxes and subsidies. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic featuring Comes With Music will be available early next year. Pricing details to follow.

ZTE Unveils World's First HSDPA TD-SCDMA Mobile Handset
Wednesday, October 1, 2008

30 September 2008, New Delhi, India - ZTE Corporation ("ZTE"), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today officially announced the U990 device, the world's first high-end HSDPA TD-SCDMA mobile handset. The new handset was first unveiled last week during a historic event hosted by the company to celebrate its corporate milestone of reaching remarkable sales record of 100 million handsets. The U990 is ZTE's third high-end TD-SCDMA mobile handset model and will soon be available in the market. The two other previous models were the U980 and U981.

The new U990 has a high-speed transmission rate of up to 2.8 Mbps, the fastest transmission speed among the TD-SCDMA terminals available in the industry, offering consumers the best mobile experience today. The new model supports dual mode TD-SCDMA/EDGE allowing seamless transition between the two networks. Its HSDPA speed is capable of reaching 2.8Mbps for downlink transmission and 384kbps for uplink transmission, ensuring high-speed HSDPA service under TD-SCDMA network infrastructure in China.

The U990 handset runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system the first time that a ZTE handset is integrated with a Microsoft OS. This combines both the features of high-end smartphone and the efficiency of TD-SCDMA HSDPA data transmission speed. ZTE's U990 is a world-class 3G mobile handset device that adopts advanced touch-screen technology, and equipped with both GPS/AGPS navigation technologies that further enhance user mobile experience.

In addition, high-end business travelers will be able to take advantage of U990's Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) features, a backwards-compatible digital mobile phone technology that allows improved data transmission rates.

"We are proud to be the first company in the industry to offer HSPDA mobile handset with TD-SCDMA intelligence, truly another significant achievement for our handset business. Our technology know-how and excellent product offering reaffirm our leading position in the mobile handset area.  We are introducing this home-grown technology to worldwide market to provide end users the best mobile experience," said Mr. He Shiyou, Executive Vice President of ZTE Corporation.

At the 100 Millionth Handset Sales Ceremony, ZTE also unveiled its global strategic plan in expanding to the 3G high-end market. As part of this strategy, the company has forged partnerships with the top 10 3G telecom operators in the world, demonstrating tremendous breakthrough in Europe, North America and Japan. In the previous two TD-SCDMA terminal tenders in China, ZTE obtained 30% of the bid, playing a significant role in offering advanced telecom services on its motherland.

ZTE has also been supporting major international events, the most recent one of which was the successful 2008 Beijing Olympics held in August 2008. ZTE was the largest supplier of TD-SCDMA handsets for the Olympics, supplying about 30% of the purchase order placed by China Mobile, thus making the company the biggest 3G provider of both network infrastructure and handsets of the global sporting event.  The handset division was one of ZTE's fastest growing units last year, with year-on-year sales revenues growing by 69.16%, shipping over 30 million handsets in 2007.

With accelerating market growth and ZTE's strong terminal capabilities, the company has successfully gained the trust and recognition of various leading multinational telecom operators, solidifying its leading position in the global mobile handset industry. In the future, ZTE will strive to continue leveraging on the success of other global 3G telecom vendors to help promote and develop China's 3G handset market.
