Lalu propose rail tickets via cell phone

The Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav while presenting this year's rail budget has proposed the option of issuing rail tickets through cell phones. India currently has 30 crore mobile phone subsribers and is expected to grow to 50 crore by 2010. With the increasing usage of cell phones in the country, the Indian Railways is exploring the option of issuing reserved and unreserved rail tickets through mobile phones, said the Rail Minister said in the Assembly. --MP
